Legt man den Theologen einen Text zur Prüfung vor, dann fragen sie nicht etwa danach,
ob der Text in sich schlüssig ist, vielleicht neue Ideen enthält, die die Wissenschaft voranbringen könnten. Nein, sie fragen nur danach, wie sich der neue Text zur Schulmeinung der Theologierichtung verhält, der sie angehören. Konformität ist gefragt, Abweichler werden mit Karriereende bestraft. Damit sind meine Thesen schon einmal durchgefallen.
Nun geht es los: Auf den Abweichler und alles Fremde, das der zu bewahrenden christlichen Wahrheit widerspricht, wird erbarmungslos eingeprügelt. Natürlich unter Wahrung guter Umgangsformen! Ein heiliger Zorn ergreift den Briefschreiber, man sieht förmlich den Teufel persönlich, der sich unter dem Deckmantel wissenschaftlicher Argumente verbirgt und der mit dem Tintenfass in die Flucht geschlagen werden muss.
Nachdem dermaßen alles Unchristliche bekämpft worden ist, kehrt der Briefschreiber zufrieden an seinen Schreibtisch zurück, sein Zorn ist verraucht, er kann in ruhigem Ton den armen unwissenden Fragesteller in die Grundlagen der rechten Lehre einführen. Die eigene Schultradition wird bekräftigt, sozusagen das eigene Glaubensbekenntnis aufgesagt, um sich selbst seiner Rechtgläubigkeit zu versichern.
Den Abschluss des Antwortbriefes bildet die fürsorgliche bis eindringliche Aufforderung, doch an das eigene Seelenheil (bei Studenten und Doktoranden: an die eigene Karriereplanung) zu denken, dem Bösen abzuschwören und die allein seligmachenden Ansichten der eigenen Schultradition des Briefschreibers zu übernehmen.
