mit der atheistischen Ideologie der DDR, interessierte ich mich schon als Schüler für die historischen Grundlagen der biblischen Erzählungen. Mein Vater hatte während des Krieges Chemie und erst nach dem Krieg Theologie studiert, in seinem Arbeitszimmer hingen statt der erwartbaren Heiligenbilder Fotographien von Albert Einstein und anderen Nobelpreisträgern, die den naturwissenschaftlichen Fortschritt des 20. Jahrhunderts repräsentierten.
Die wissenschaftliche Sorgfalt, mit der mein Vater auch Theologie betrieb, hat mich mehr beeinflusst als seine im Grunde pietistische Frömmigkeit. Als ich von 1968 bis 1973 in Leipzig und Ostberlin Theologie studierte, war die Bultmann’sche Entmythologisierung für mich eine Befreiung aus der Enge pietistischer Bibelfrömmigkeit. Jesu Wunder galten damals als Relikte eines antiken Weltbildes, die Auferstehung als mythologische Formulierung, die für den heutigen Menschen existenzphilosophisch übersetzt werden musste.
Allerdings wollte ich dann auch das Göttliche selbst philosophisch deuten und geriet dadurch in Konflikt mit der Kirche, so dass ich das Theologiestudium nur mit den fachwissenschaftlichen Fächern abschloss.
