III 3 Die jüdische Oberschicht und die nationale Lösung
3.3.1.
Die jüdische Oberschicht favorisierte bei der Neuorientierung und Identitätssuche in Galiläa eine nationale Lösung:
die Rückbesinnung auf die großen Gestalten der jüdischen und samaritanischen Geschichte und ihre Einbindung in die Geschichte des Vorderen Orients.
3.3.2.
Die nationale Lösung erinnert an die Lösung, die eine Generation zuvor in Rom durch den Dichter Vergil und sein großes Epos Aeneis repräsentiert wurde. Vergil fand die große römische Vergangenheit in der römischen Überlieferung, verfolgte die Anfänge Roms aber noch weiter zurück.
Die Helden von Troja, dessen Untergang Homer geschildert hatte, seien die wahren Ahnen Roms, einer von ihnen, Aeneas, sei der Stammvater der römischen Könige gewesen.
