Anfangs wurden auch die neuen kulturellen Möglichkeiten, die von den Römern eröffnet wurden, gern genutzt. Der Wohlstand und der kulturelle Aufschwung mündeten später in einen jüdischen Nationalismus, der in den großen Aufstand und in die Katastrophe führte. Aber davon war man in den ersten Jahrzehnten des 1. Jahrhunderts n. Chr. noch weit entfernt.
